About Jean-Wesley “Wes” Michel

About me...

Born in Brooklyn, NY raised by Haitian parents you can probably understand where my love for food, wine and photography come from. Saturdays were filled with great food, music and family.  The scent of epis filled the air while everything from kompa to gospel music played in the background.
As I got older, my love for food was no secret. Food was more than just what was being cooked. It was the foundation for who I am today. From business deals to family functions to a room filled with laughter. Food was the epicenter of it all.

Fast forward a few years later and wine has been added to the mix. Growing up Haitian, rhum was all I knew. Then I had my first glass of shiraz-grenache and my palate was no longer the same. It opened doors and I was having conversations that  were fueled by French onion soup, or my love for mais moulin and lasagna. Eating with my eyes was an understatement. I didn't want to be the "foodie" everyone was. I wanted to provide and be part of an experience and wine was just the element that was needed.

From there #WineWithWes was born and I was now capturing food from my perspective. I have become enamored with all things food and wine. Before I knew it my love for food wine was heightened. Any meal wasn't complete without as glass of wine.

"Wine needs food and food needs wine!" a mantra of sorts for me as I navigate through these food and wine streets.

Pour a glass of something good and follow me on this journey.

One meal at a time.

One bottle at a time.

One frame at a time.

Cheers!

Wes
